From pasture to plate: local beef in the spotlight at Meet the Producer dinner
Local produce will take centre stage at Kimbridge Barn, a restaurant and events venue in Romsey, this October. Family-run Gambledown Farm will feature in the latest Meet the Producer dinner, part of a series hosted by Hampshire and West Sussex restaurant group Ideal Collection.
Taking place on Friday 9th October, the one-night-only event will see Ideal Collection’s Executive Chef Matt Whitfield create an exclusive three-course menu showcasing a selection of cuts from Gambledown Farm. Guests will have the chance to meet Gambledown Farm co-owner Richard Arnison-Newgass, learn more about how the farm’s cattle are reared and discover the work that goes into producing its beef. Matt Whitfield, Executive Chef at Ideal Collection, said, “We’re incredibly lucky to have such a wealth of fantastic producers across Hampshire and West Sussex, and our Meet the Producer dinners give us an opportunity to celebrate the people behind the ingredients we use. “Gambledown Farm shares our passion for knowing where food comes from and understanding the care that goes into producing it. This dinner is about giving our guests the chance to discover more about that while enjoying the beef in a menu created specifically to showcase it. “I’ve used a variety of cuts across the menu to demonstrate just how versatile the produce can be, and I’m looking forward to welcoming Gambledown Farm to Kimbridge Barn and sharing its story with our guests.”
Gambledown Farm is a family-run mixed farm growing cereal crops alongside its herd of pedigree Beef Shorthorn cattle, which was established in 2001 to produce fully traceable beef. The herd is raised using high-welfare, low-input principles, with cattle mob grazed on permanent grassland that receives no artificial fertiliser. Richard Arnison-Newgass, co-owner of Gambledown Farm, said, “We’re delighted to be joining Ideal Collection for its Meet the Producer dinner at Kimbridge Barn. We put a huge amount of care into how our cattle are raised and the quality of the fully traceable beef we produce, so it’s a great opportunity to share more about what we do and the story behind our produce. “We’re looking forward to seeing our beef showcased across Matt’s menu and giving guests the chance to learn more about where their food comes from and the work that goes into producing it.”
The three-course menu has been created to showcase different cuts of Gambledown Farm beef, from braised shin to sirloin, ribeye and rump, with a beef suet treacle pudding completing the menu. Ideal Collection launched its Meet the Producer series last year to bring diners closer to the local farmers, growers and suppliers behind the ingredients used across its venues. The Meet the Producer dinner with Gambledown Farm will take place on Friday 9th October. Tickets are available now and cost £37.50 per person. Guests can find out more and book here.
