Boathouse Swanwick celebrates 2 years at the heart of the local community

A popular waterside restaurant in Swanwick is celebrating two years since reopening after welcoming more than 180,000 guests and cementing its place as one of Hampshire’s leading waterfront dining destinations. Since reopening in August 2024, Boathouse Swanwick has served 32,500 breakfasts, 15,000 lobster rolls, hosted more than 250 live music and DJ events, and poured 3,850 Aperol Spritzes, reflecting its evolution into a vibrant destination for food, drink and entertainment by the water.

Throughout the past two years, the venue has continued to invest in its food and drink offering, launching seasonal menus inspired by the South Coast, expanding its programme of entertainment and strengthening relationships with local producers across Hampshire. Recent additions include the launch of the Ideal Collection Rewards Plus One Club, giving regular guests exclusive offers and priority access to events, alongside popular initiatives such as Saturday DJ sessions, bottomless afternoon tea, Meet the Producer evenings, and the Lobster Hatch, offering relaxed, street-food-style dining throughout the summer. To mark the two-year milestone, Boathouse Swanwick will host a second birthday celebration on Saturday 5th September, transforming its waterfront terrace with an Ultimate Provence takeover. Three sittings will be available at 12.30pm, 3.30pm and 6.30pm, where guests can enjoy a specially curated sharing-style menu with 90 minutes of free-flowing Ultimate Provence rosé, DJs from 1pm until 9pm and panoramic views across Swanwick Marina. Guests not attending the event can still visit throughout the day, with an amended lounge menu available and the Lobster Hatch serving as normal.

Oliver Weeks, Managing Director of Ideal Collection, said: “I’ve been part of Ideal Collection for nearly 19 years, and in that time I’ve seen the hospitality industry experience incredible highs and some very difficult lows. “From economic uncertainty to changing customer habits, and everything the industry has faced in recent years, one thing has remained constant – people still value spending quality time together over great food and genuine hospitality. “When we reopened Boathouse Swanwick two years ago, our vision wasn’t just to create another restaurant. We wanted to create somewhere that became part of the local community; somewhere people celebrate birthdays and anniversaries, catch up with friends, enjoy family meals or simply watch the boats go by with a drink in hand.

“Seeing so many familiar faces return time and time again, alongside new guests discovering us every week, is something we’re incredibly proud of. The support we’ve received from the local community has helped Boathouse Swanwick become what it is today, so it feels only right to celebrate this milestone with everyone. “Our second birthday celebration on Saturday 5th September will be our way of saying thank you. We’ve partnered with Ultimate Provence to create a fantastic afternoon and evening of great food, rosé and waterfront dining, and we can’t wait to celebrate with our guests.”

As Boathouse Swanwick enters its third year, the venue will continue expanding its programme of seasonal events, showcasing local producers and creating new reasons for guests to visit throughout the year.
